DB RRTS Operations India, a Deutsche Bahn International Operations GmbH subsidiary, is entrusted with the operation and maintenance of India’s groundbreaking regional rapid transit system, which is being implemented by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
With a twelve-year contract and a vision for excellence, we are committed to provide a seamless operations and maintenance services to the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS. The RRTS is set to connect Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut, a densely populated region with more than 46 million residents.
Once fully commissioned in 2025, it will feature 25 stations and two depots, catering to the needs of approximately 800,000 passengers daily – comparable to the capacity of Hamburg’s S-Bahn rail system.
With technical expertise and best practices, we strive to play a pivotal role in transforming the future of transportation in India.
With trains traveling at a speed of 160 km/h, the RRTS will be the fastest regional rail system in India. Reducing the travel time between Delhi and Meerut by approximately 70%, the project primarily targets commuters traveling between these two major cities. A fast, convenient and affordable mode of transportation like the RRTS has the potential to transform urban rail transport in the region, especially as India’s capital Delhi is expected to become one of the world’s most populous metropolitan areas by 2030.
