Ready for the “Next Level”: Changes in the management of DB E.C.O. Group

Major changes lie ahead for the DB E.C.O. Group. The organization is restructuring its management in response to its successful growth. After almost 14 years at the helm, Niko Warbanoff will be stepping down as CEO of DB Engineering & Consulting (DB E&C) as of December 31, 2023.

Niko Warbanoff will retain overall responsibility both as CEO of the DB E.C.O. Group and as CEO of DB International Operations (DB IO), which acts as an operator for projects outside Europe. His successor at DB E&C will be Andrea Bertallot, who as Managing Director German Market is currently responsible for the domestic business. Bertallot will assume her new role as of January 1, 2024.

DB E.C.O. Group has seen some impressive successes over the past few years. Under Warbanoff’s management, the two key pillars of the Group’s business – DB Engineering & Consulting (DB E&C) and DB International Operations (DB IO) – have delivered some stellar performances: DB E&C has become one of Europe’s largest engineering firms, with over 6,000 employees, and DB IO has acquired major operations contracts worth billions in a range of countries including IndiaCanadaUruguay and Egypt.

Niko Warbanoff said of the changes in management within the DB E.C.O. Group: “After more than a decade in charge of DB E&C, it is now time to place operational responsibility in other hands. In my new role, I will continue to support our important clients at DB E&C and work hard to drive our business forward.”

As part of these changes, Andrea Bertallot, current domestic market head, will additionally become the new CEO of DB E&C from January 2024. She said: “We are outstandingly positioned to play a major role in shaping the decarbonization of the transport sector on a national and international scale. The managerial reorganization is a logical response to the business’s dynamic growth and expansion. The DB E.C.O. Group is now positioning itself for further long-term success in Germany and abroad. Its companies are embarking on a new chapter of their success story.
